HOPE International is a network of microfinance institutions operating in 16 countries around the world and serving more than 500,000 clients. Microfinance isn’t like most forms of charity.  Instead of offering handouts to those living in poverty, HOPE seeks to offer a hand up.  We acknowledge that the poor are much like us: intelligent, capable, and eager to work to provide for their own families.  Unlike us, they often lack access to financial services like business loans, basic training, and secure savings accounts. Microfinance makes these services available to those who are willing and ready to work.  Those who access our services take pride in knowing that their own hard work has made the difference between poverty and provision.
