HOPE International is a network of microfinance institutions operating in 14 countries around the world. Microfinance isn’t like most forms of charity.  Instead of offering handouts to those living in poverty, it seeks to offer a hand up.  It acknowledges that the poor are much like us: intelligent, capable, and eager to work to provide for their own families.  Unlike us, they  often lack access to financial services like business loans, basic training, and secure savings accounts. Microfinance makes these services available to those who are willing and ready to work.  Those who access microfinance services can take pride in knowing that their own hard work has made the difference between poverty and provision.
